Fyodor Dostoyevsky's Cat

Sherman Brooks was going to physical therapy back in the 90's when the receptionist noticed he worked for the L.A. Times. The woman asked Sherman if he knew any artists at the newspaper to which he said he did, although not as an artist for the paper.

She went on to tell him why she had asked and it was to have a drawing enlarged to give to her daughter as a gift.

The womans daughter was in college to get her degree in Russian Journalism and he favorite writer was Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

The drawing was from a book that portrayed cats in a human persona that would resemble it's owner and this was Fyodor Dostoyevsky's depicting him with the Kremlin in the backround.

I enlarged the image three times its original size in willow charcoal and had it professionally mounted and framed which cost more than my commision to create the artwork. It was well appreciated by the woman that happened to ask Sherman if he knew any artists and her Daughter that always liked the picture from the book.

I am going to take the time to get some of my work scanned and up here as soon as possible. I have a collection of drawings I have created in my thirty years at the Times.
